This 3-day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Tour in Volcanoes National Park offers an incredible opportunity to witness the majestic mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. In addition to the thrilling gorilla trekking experience, you will also have the chance to explore the vibrant city of Kigali and immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Rwanda at the Ibylwacu cultural village. For wildlife enthusiasts, golden monkey trekking is a must-do activity, while adventure seekers can opt for an optional Dian Fossey hike to learn more about her pioneering work with gorillas.
Our Gorilla Safaris Guide will pick you up from your Kigali hotel or the airport and take you on a city tour of Kigali, including the genocide site memorial center at Gisozi, a tour of the local markets, and then depart for the Musanze province, where the Volcano National Park is located. You will arrive late and head to your resort to check in for supper and an overnight stay. You will awaken in the morning to stunning views of the neighboring volcanoes.
You'll have an early breakfast at your accommodation before heading to the park headquarters in Kiningi for a gorilla hike briefing. You will then be transferred to the gorilla trek's starting site around 8:30 a.m. to follow the gorilla family you have been assigned. Your ranger guide will lead you as you trail the gorillas through the forests, attempting to identify the continuously shifting gorillas based on information about their last known location. After meeting the gorillas, you have a maximum of one hour with them.
After the mountain gorilla encounter, return to your accommodation for lunch and, in the afternoon, participate in a cultural experience at the Ibyiwacu cultural hamlet to learn about Banyarwanda culture. Dinner and an overnight stay at your lodging are included.Early in the morning, you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing, but this time about the Golden Monkeys. You will head back to the forests to trek the golden monkeys, after which you will return to the lodge and prepare for the trip back to Kigali and thereafter to the airport for your flight back home.
